Plant pathogens in the genus Phytophthora threaten the biodiversity and sustainability of forest ecosystems worldwide. The aim of the website is to provide science-based information to aid in the understanding and management of the world’s forest Phytophthora species.
Webpages for each forest Phytophthora species (see left sidebar) include:
- The pathogen: morphological descriptions, genetics, colony growth characteristics.
- The disease: hosts, symptoms, and forest impacts
- Management and educational materials
- References
Ten of the most damaging species of forest Phytophthoras are included on the website as of January 2013. A few species will be added each year.
A new online scientific journal, Forest Phytophthoras, has been launched to provide a permanent site for publication of peer-reviewed articles appearing on the website.
